There have been two different approaches to developing antibodies to L1 ORF proteins, and otherwise to proteins assembling into L1 complexes.
- Injection of affinity purified L1's into mice, in collaboration with CDI, to produce monoclonal antibodies. This is also related to the proof of concept that injecting complexes can produce multiple antibodies simultaneously that target relevant members of protein complexes, CDI STTR.
- Injection of recombinant proteins and fragments into llama/alpaca using the Rout lab approach (managed by Peter Fridy): L1 nanobodies
